FLUVAL 304

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My filters go like this.....

Bottom - filter pads, and synthetic carbon
middle - ceramic bio cylinders, or any other type of bio filtration. (lava rocks, polishing rocks, bio-stars, bio-balls)
top - more filter pads, and synthetic carbon

NEVER EVER RINSE YOUR BIO CYLINDERS IN TAP WATER!
(after they have been established) This will kill the benifical bacteria growing on them, and the process will have to start all over again. Use some of the tank water to rinse them off with. Also, try to stager the sponge cleaning. With my 404, I clean the sponges once a month. Clean the inside sponges, then next month clean the outside sponges. This also helps with the bio filtration growth.

I would say bioballs or pot scrubbers:thumbsup:
I believe that the hard plastic bio-media require air to be effective, like in a wet/dry sump. For a canister use a porious media, like ceramic, lava rock or the like.

also when cleaning and replacing the floss/filter you may want to refrain from rinsing the bio-media. You want to keep all the good stuff as possible. The sponges and floss takes care of the bad sh#t....literaly.
