im gona go with the fx5 and another question can i hook a uv sterilizer to the fx5 and still have enough flow to filter the water

you can but the flow from the fluval will (a) decrease and (b) will be too strong for the uv to act as a sterilizer..it would be more like a clarifier.

If you tee off the return and throttle back the uv flow, you should be able to make it work.
