I got 2 fluval 404 had them for about 1yr now, they are both leaking on the side where there is the clip. I was told to clean the impellar and I did. this happend to me twice and the only solution I had was pound it with my fist as hard as I can, it worked the first time, but when it was time to clean it and plug it back in it leaked again. I was also told to put vasaline on it but I dont think that would work, any one else have a solution??

replace the gaskets?

if that came across as sarcastic im sorry, I just re-read that and it didnt sound how I intended for it to sound. I dont even know if the fluvals have replaceable gaskets, i've never had one
lol

Put teflon tape on the Oring.I have a filter that was leaking to but it was not a fluval.I called the company and that is what they told me to do.

My Fluvals leaked all the time. I trashed them & got a XP3....much better filters!

I think Ima try that, I go my filter to stop leaking by pounding it again, but ima put some of the tape this time.

the gasket or o ring sonetimes when you place it down does not completely fit perfect, so make sure it is wet and fits flush with your cover before starting it up. hitting it might break it and they are good filters just hard to start up like ehiems.
Also to be safe i would have your return tubes close to the top of the tank so in an emergency all the water does not leak out hahaha it happened to me man and my chick almost left me when 75 gallons was in our bedroom. good luck bro, also tape works good for extra support.
