Fluval 404 Stops Every 5 minutes.

After a recent water change my Fluval 404 won't run for more than 5 minutes without shutting itself off. It stays off for about 5 mins and then kicks back on for another 5 in an endless cycle. Anyone have an idea as to what the issue might be?

checked the impeller and housing?

Bear in mind that the fluval 04 series is quite a few years old now, could just be old age....

Checked the impeller and it had no obvious signs of wear or damage. Replaced the impeller cover, aquastop, and the main gasket. Even swapped out the entire bottom "bucket" part.

I had nothing but trouble with my old 404, got with the times and purchased a 406. Super easy to prime!

ehiem is the way to go! but good luck, i would like others said, get the 406 fluval.

I've already got 3 Eheims along with 3 404's and a handful of AC 110's. Just want to get this one working again if possible.

just buy a rena xp filter and call it a day... very cheap and decent quality...
