FLUVAL E300 Heater USERS

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
everything else on the tank gives off heat. lights, pumps, filters ect.

if the room is 78 f then it only takes a very small amount of continuess heat from say a powerhead to raise it a tiny amount.

the e300 only indicates the heat and tells you its to hot by going red, so its working fine.

if its a real problem to have your tank slightly warmer then you want you need to cool the room down its in. open a window or lower your room heating.

my house temp is 80 in my office and 78 in the livingroom, where the tank is located. i do have a thermometer on the tank, which reads 80.
This is your ambient temp. Add lighting and you tank will raise above this...
depending on what type of thermometer you are using, the error of the thermostat on the house, the tank heater and the tank thermometer is all within 1-2 degrees...unless you take the temp of all three items with the same thermometer, you will always have a 1-2 degree error, at least...

Glass tanks are more susceptible to ambient temp changes, acrylic not as much because they are better thermal insulators.
Judging by the type and size of heater you are using, sounds like the tank isn't really large, also adding to the susceptibility of temp change from lighting/direct sunlight/ambient room temp etc...

What type of fish do you keep? I wish I had that problem of my tank being 80f without running any heating...;)

no wonder lol. you room temp 80. the water should be around there.

thanks to all. i will take your advice. i guess the red light startled me. i have since, gathered myself and collected my thoughts (smile).
