i have a few questions about them.

1) are they good quality filters?
2) is a fluval 104 enough for a 45. gal. tank with 1 JD?
3) how do the hoses connect to the tank and does the filter sit under the tank?
4) are they easy filters to maintain and operate?

then what model do you recomend, i have never had a canister filter before.

i got a 203 on my baby turtle tank (20L) and i have to use a exo terra repti flo 250 to get it running and keep it running the 304 i just got havent tried it yet any input from anybody greatly appreciated and eheims are the best i love both of mine pending on the 304 ill never get another fluval except the in tank filters :)

I would say they are fair in quality, not the best but not the worst.I run 2 -304's and have never had a problem(one for 3 yrs. and one for 2)The 104 is only rated for tanks up to 25 gals.,so no its not enough and the hoses connect to the tank via plastic hangers that come with the filter, the filter can sit under or next to the tank, the only thing is to make sure that the top of te filter is below the water level, even during water changes this will make priming much easier. They are pretty simple to maintain, the amount in which you maintain really depends on the contents of your filter(media) and tank. One fluval I have is used on a 55gal.planted tank and is maintained evry other month but the media is changed once evry 6 months. The other fluval is on a 90 gal. bullhead tank.It is used in conjunction with a 125 gal hydro sponge and a home made bio-filter.THis fluval is cleaned evry 2 weeks and the media is changed evry month. The only thing I use in each of these fluval filters is purigen, biomax rings and pre-filter media.I included a few pics of the instruction manual, hope they are of use.

Hopefully these pics will work better, one is the intake and one is the output.

The Trust once said''Fluvals suck a..'' I agree with him.I trust EHEIMS before I would trust a fluval.

Yeah, they probably dont work to well on a heavily overstocked predator tank.If trust dont like em they must be crap.Ehiem's are probably the best, but they are quite expensive compared to evryother filter, fluvals are less than half of what a ehiem is. :grinno:
