Fluval FX5 Canister Filter

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i have 2 fx's and bought them over a year ago. i love them, but i have replaced one impeller as sand got stuck in it and it broke-it was like a 20 buck fix and worth it. like other writers have stated, do not overpack the center drawers, as they do clog easily and slows the water flow down dramatically.

i bought mine off of an ebay seller for 180 bucks a piece and that included shipping..

howmuch noise do these baby's make, i have a 304 and 205 and they are quiet reasonable for noise but i dont want a noisy beast.

also how does the water change feature work and does it only assist removing water from the tank or re filling too ?

thanks:headbang2

They are silent besides a slight hum that mine makes. It depends on the structure you have the filter sitting on.

The water change feature I don't even use. I have a window right next to my tank so I open the window and just use a small length of clear hoseto drain the tank out the window.

Im sure the water change feature would help some but not all.

can you please tell me what width my cabinet compartment needs to be for the fx5 to fit inside it i cannot find anything on the fluval website.

i have one and its the best filter ive ever owned i would suggest one i even have mine plumbed its awesome
