Setting up my 180 gal tank and purchased the fx5. We were using the pump to sifon water from a holding tub into the tank. The fx5 pumps water as fast as a water hose attached to the house. Everything was good till the unthinkable happend. I pulled on the hose to lower it into the tub and My Brand new fx5 tipped over and sanapped off the "out" spout on the lid. Water shot everywhere!! The first thing I thought was there goes $200.00!! I emailed Fluval and to my surprise they repied and said they would send me a new lid FREE.

Fluval earned my respect, and I am very impressed with the filters power as well.

Great to hear! I have had my fx5 going for about three weeks now, so far all is good :)

it wouldnt have broken if it was a eheim :D

ehiem only have one person working for them world wide as nothing ever brakes :D

I'm am still reserved about the FX5. I'm hoping nothing goes terribly wrong, but I'm going to wait until its been out for at least a 2 years before I even consider looking at buying one. Fluval lost my respect long ago with their 403 line, and even more so with the 404 line.

I do not understand why so many people have problems with Fluvals? There is almost nothing difficult about them, very simple, but yet people have problems. I have had a couple fluvals with no issues. :)

It isn't that they are hard to operate. It is the fact that they don't run for long before clogging up. I have an eheim 2026 and fluval 404 on my 135 planted. My eheim won't clog at all, and the fluval will clog in less than 5 days. THe pumps on a 404 are sub-par, and just don't cut it under a heavy load. Also the media included with the pro 2 models is great media, and actually works better than pot scrubbers. Fluvals media 1 is half carbon, and two doesn't work very well.

Interesting, I've only delt with the 304's and 204's, and I would clean them once a month. I've never used Ehiem, But everybody seems to say only great things about them.
