Are the fx5 hoses 1" i.d. or o.d.? I have hydor eth heaters for 5/8" hoses on my fluval 405s and have been tossing around the idea of replacing one 405 with a fx5. If the hose is 1" o.d. It will be 3/4" i.d. which is only 17% larger than the 5/8" needed for the heater, if 1" I.d. there would be a 37% difference which will probably put to much pressure on the motor. Any thought will be greatly appreciated.

think its one inch inner. what you should do if you have time take the fitting of the fx5 to home depot or where ever and find the right hose that fits it how i got my plumbing to work

I don't want to buy the fx5 if its 1" inner due to the fact that a 37% reduction in hose size will over work the motor and decrease the flow rate too much. If I can't use the heater and have to add equipment in the tank, personally I'd rather save the money and get an ac110.

I have been looking at the FX5 as an option also. I too have the hydor in line heater. I also have a new UV sterilizer. I was thinking to use a splitter that went from 1" and then output two 5/8". Then I could still maintain a high flow rate but now would have to make two outputs into the tank.

Another option would be a new heater and a Lifegard heater module or a DIY option out of PVC pipe.

I bought 2 fluval e300 in the spring and upgraded to the hydors in the summer so I'm done buying heatrs. Thinking about splitting the 1" with a "y" down to 5/8 then back to 1" after the heater

the hoses on the Fx5 fittings are just a hair under 1"I.D. probably so metric size. i just got done custom plumbing mine to my 135 i used 1" I.D. clear hose to go from the pump to the pvc it works fine i used a little silicone on the barb and a hoes clamp been a week now and no leaks
