Fluval FX5 noise

Hey, I just bought a 175 gallon tank wit the FX5. I heard that it's suppose to be very quiet but mine makes a lot of noise. I exchanged it to be sure and I still have the same problem with the new one. Ppl told me to shake it, but it doesn't do anything. The bubble noises stopped but it still makes noise. Is it normal? Anything I can do?!

they do have a slight hum to them but it shouldn't be like a loud mechanical sound.
 
is there an air source nearby? like an air stone? It might be sucking in water. Is it on a hollow object. The reverberations might be getting amplified if it is

oh yeah, I had that problem before, I had a bubble wand on the back wall. My filter intakes starting sucking up the air bubbles causing the filters to run "dry" so they made a loud noise so I just took the wands out.
 
make sure both valves are open all the way... is it a loud mechanical sound or a hum?
 
make sure there are no kinks or loops in the hoses... running out of ideas
 
haha no loops or anything... it's ok i'm gonna make a tech come n give it a look this week. Thanx anyways
