There will not be a current strong enough to force your hand away. Based on what you said you have in it, I would suggest that either the impellar is in need of replacement, the valves are not fully open, or the directional outputs are not aligned so as to give maximum flow.

Thanks Andrew I will look into the impeller. Which are the directional outputs? I think this is the last time I buy a used filter. Think it is less of a head ache to buy new. I have already had to replace several fasteners.
Check out the staf. My dad fixed my ehim my taping the staf together with plumbers tape. The pieces of the staf are probably loose. My ehim would not start up because the staf pieces were separating. But after we used plumbers tank it worked. But I still want a new filter.
