I'm very interested in purchasing a FX5! But if anyone can tell me how long the intake/outake hoses are that would be awesome. I just want to do some measuring to see where I would need to set up the filter. Also if there are any longer or extension hoses that they sell or if anyone has made some that would be awesome to know as well.........
Thanx

I have many FX5's.. I love these filters!! by far the best canister i have owned in my 24 years of fish keeping. The hoses are a bit short but i believe you can buy extension. I use washer machine hoses instead of buying extensions for my taller set ups. As long as you do regular maintenance on the filter they will last a very long time.

For my 125g long my stand is 3.5 feet. With tank I forgot. I built my tank stand and topper. I actually got my measurements by measuring the tubing inlet outlet from my fx5. To figure out my stand size. Working great. I use for my turtles

just keep in mind that fluval states that each hose must NOT exceed 9.8' or 3meters. and also the combined length of both intake and discharge lines are NOT to exceed 16.4' or 5meters

The filter comes with one uncut hose, it is about 10 foot long.

Also this from fluval
• The hosing supplied with the unit is 9.8 ft. (3m) long.
If longer hosing is required, intake hosing must
NOT exceed 9.8 ft. (3m) and the total length of
intake and outlet hosing combined must not
exceed 16.4 ft. (5m).

that is just to maintain the gph rating of the filter. it will function properly with longer hoses but the gph will decrease.
