Sounds like the bearing in the impeller is junk.
Remove the pump from the filter. Remove the impeller and make sure there is nothing caught in it. If there is nothing in there, replace the impeller.
A new impeller is around $45. Contact them and they shoudl send you a new one without you bringing yours in.
No such thing. Was it sand or gravel? A fine sponge in the center trays will help this issue. I am looking into creating sponges for the Fx5 which are finer, about 30 ppi instead of 10ppi for the outside of the baskets. This should help some
