it seems like some people have the impression that if you have a bigger filter you dont have to change water as much, but in fact the two are unrelated (unless you have no filter at all). Depending on how big your fish are, how much you feed etc (how big the bioload is) either nitrates or your PH will be the deciding factor. You can go as long as you want as long as your nitrates are below ~40ppm, and your ph is stable and doesnt crash. long story short Id start with 50% once a week and monitor your ph and nitrates to see if you need to change twice a week.
 
Do a water change.
5 Days later, test the water for Nitrate. If it is elevated, do a water change.
If not, retest 2 days later. If it is elevated, do a water change.
If not, retest 2 days later. If it is elevated, do a water change.
If not, retest 2 days later. If it is elevated, do a water change.
