i run 2 fx5s on my 180 i think its enough at the moment but will add more later

I am also going to throw a bubbler in there with one of these(left hand corner).

Put that bubbler right next to the intake to the FX5 to get it seeded faster. What is going to be in the 180?

Or put it under the outtake near the substrate to aerate the tank.....the bubbles will flow up and "pop" and flow across the tank!!

wont that cause the impeller to grind on and off since air is being introduced into it??

I'm not putting substrate in i am going to paint the bottom of th tank black.

It's rated for 400g but alot of filter ratings are rated without any media in them. Also That's a huge bioload. You could start with the fx5 but might want to look into additional flow.

Sounds good, you might want to consider making your 75g a sump. It would be a huge sump for you're 180g but might work nice.
