do any of you have a Fulval FX5 filter if so what do you think about it im thinking of geting 1 for my 150 gallon tank

I liked mine so much on my 150 that I actually just added a second...It is overkill however my aro deserves the cleanest water I can give him.

i did the same on my 6x2x2 i bought one then added another a couple of months later, i sold on my old 2 filters as i felt they were not needed with these 2 running.

I say 'Go for it". I liked my first one alot so, I bought 4 more. Never had a problem (other than a hose coming loose - zip ties fisxed that) and the filters work great on my tanks. Best canister filter, for the money IMO, for smaller tanks.

I just picked one up, but have yet to set it up. What kind of media are you guys putting in there?

I have an FX5 for my 220 gallon and it works very, very well albeit not typically a "small" tank. It is easy to maintain. I highly recommend it.

One other great feature is it is QUIET!!! I sometimes worry if it is even working or not so I stare closely at the return hoses to see if agitation is there. Yep...still running. Great filters for the buck.

It is best, if you have a filter now, to take the old filters foam media out of it and squeeze the dirty foam media into the new filter and then replace the old media back into the old filter. This will speed up the biological filtration 10 fold.

i think i'm going to try 1 first for my 180 gal setup.

what do you guys find is the best combination for filter media 1-2-3?

I like my FX5 but the outflow is low IMO so i put a few powerheads in my tank.
