Fluval or Eheim?

Another vote for Eheim, but I will admit I've never used a Fluval. I have a 2213, two 2217's, and a twenty+ year-old 2017. Eheim canisters are super quiet and reliable and have great flexibility in media.

The cheapest place I've found is Petsolutions.com. They have the 2213 (rated to 65 gallon tank) for $90 and the 2217 (rated to 159 gallon tank) for $170. These come with double-stop unions and packed with media. Plus they have free shipping for $99+. Considering what you get I don't really think they are all that expensive.

i have 2 of each. 2080 eheim and fx5. setup for the fx5 is easier, more flow for sure but less media. i dont use fine filter pad in fx5 just foam and biomax and i leave the top media tray empty. 340$ per fx5 with media.
eheim has adjustable flow control, 2 filter pads, the fine has to be changed every 3-4 weeks or it clogs up. 2 intakes, nice. little smaller and quieter. after i just rambled on i think after using both i like the fluval the best but really close call.

340 for a fx5 is a rip off.

220 on ebay for the fx5 and 30 dollars for 1 gallon of pond matrix = 250 total.
