yeah, a streamer should work. use sinking tip line if you can as the weight throws off your cast. put the weight about 2 feet above the fly on the leader if you have to use it and also use the smallest weight you can buy and let it sink to the right depth
watch out for other boats, the open space makes you forget about your back cast. read my above post for weight advice, and let the fly sink to the depth you want before stripping it in slowly
it's easier then drift fishing imo. you are slowly pulling the fly in much like retrieving a lure spin fishing just hand lining. when the fish strikes you will notice it as your line will be taunt. then just follow usual procedure...
