I have the rare pleasure of picking up a fly river turtle with papers - and have done quite a bit of reading on their care.

I've noticed differences in opinion on whether or not they can be kept with fish, and was wondering what everything thinks about throwing a few large clown loach in with mine?

The tank will be roughly 6'x3.5'x2' tall and have quite a bit of driftwood for the turtle to feel secure.

Thanks.

i say not good idea with cl. Cl tend to sit around a lot and that when FRT will nip amd bite them.

He's currently in with a 6" pleco that he seems to leave alone. Maybe I should do some sort of fancy pleco and leave it at that?

I think you have to be careful with fancy pleco
Plecos are known to love to feed on the FRT shell, and they can kill the FRT that way.

As long as there is sufficient space and the turtle is well-fed, usually they will leave the fish alone.

Maybe I have an abnormal tank but so far I only have problems with my fish attacking my FRTs and not the other way round

i have my frt with 15 cl and they are doing fine. dont put the frt with plecos especially royals. train your frt to eat Repto-min and fruits they will look alot better

No plecos!

My FRT was fine with my crazy fast moving loaches...lol

Hello dirtyblacksocks, I would love to learn a little bit more about the fly river turtle papers. Could you send me an email at ectotherm at gmail ?

Thanks in advance, Jim.
