Has anyone checked a box with live fish before? I will be traveling on Delta and the representative said that it would be fine but sounded unsure. I would have them professionally bagged and packaged. I do not see why they would have a problem but who knows!
Would there be any increased risk to the fish?

It all depends who is at the counter at the time you arrive at the airport. I was pre-approved to bring sealed fish boxes on my flight only to have a manager turn me down once I arrived at the airport. I had to walk my boxes (was doing a relo and my truck was already picked up by the moving company) to the air freight terminal to get my fish shipped. I wound up missing my flight and had to sit in the terminal overnight to catch another flight the following morning.

Any one else have advice on bringing the fish on a plane? I am about to purchase some fish here in NY and want to make sure I can get them back to Kansas City
