I change my water every 4 days on all my tanks of 30% that includes my 220. I have not lost a fish other then to other fish's eating or killing them. it doesn’t matter a bit either cause he is dead already, in the belly of my crayfish. none of my fish have died because of mistreatment. Go try to pick on someone else. my water conditions are perfect. I test it once a week. and again it says 74 in the bottom right corner. the coldest part of the tank far away from the heater. think it might be warmer in the middle? read my replies more carefully if your gonna scrutinize them.

Hey siesta I dont think he's criticizing you but trying to help you. His advice are good and here is some of mine. When buying fish from anywhere. You should quarantine the new fish. Its best for the new guy to adjust and eat. Its good for the fish you tend to put with him as sometime new fish may carry diease that might kill your other fish.

I am not saying the advice isn't the truth, but dont make me sound like im mistreating my fish. and thank you but my nano is my hospital/quarantine tank. I was letting it re cycle while he was in the 55. the last fish in it had fin rot and i wasn't going to throw him in it without making sure everything was ok first... he just got eatin a day before it was ready.

goddamn you're a touchy little f##ker aren't you? :)

That's right, all I was trying to do is give you advice. In my experience and many other people's, it's good to keep tropicals at warmer temps. Apart from certain cases that need cooler water, like bagarius etc.

Like I said, more active fish and less risk of disease, it was a suggestion - I didn't ask you how often you change your water or criticize your fishkeeping methods in general.

Id suggest keeping the water temp near 80 My lil TSN swims freely (considering hes missing a fin).

i appoligize. I was being very touchy. long day yesterday. not your fault.

sorry to hear about your tsn.
keep at it becos the tsn is a real nice fish and well worth the time to try again.

maybe in the future some time. for now im done with cat fish.

72 is to low 80 is the min temp they are tropical not cold water fish

I wouldnt give up on cats, there too awesome!!!!!

Try getting something a little bigger like 5" they are less prone to being eaten, or other problems. If you like shovelnose cats there are a ton to choose from. I love Juruense, Tigrinus, Flavicans, Planiceps, and Tiger Shovelnose. Depends on how much you are willing to spend. There is a guy in florida (check the classified/sellers section) who is selling tigrinus for $85 which is a steal if they are in good shape. Absolutely a stunning fish in my opinion.
