maybe, but you can't be sure it wasn't treated with various anti-bacterial, anti-mold, and anti-fungals.

How does one tell and/or remedy?
Soak in bleach for 2days?
Submerge in the sea for a week?
I ask as I've not got a lot of options... not within a human's budget, that is.
