foam board under tank

In know this has been hashed out, but I need to bring this 'dead horse' back to life...

I am just starting to plan out setting up a used glass 125g on an iron stand. The tank will be located out in the garage, I am going to use foam.

The question is, since this tank is glass, should I use the foam for insulation only, by simply attaching it to the underside of the tank once I place it on the stand(open frame stand)?

Or should I go with the exercise mat under the rim for vibrations sake and insulation?

Please post your opinions as I also need to reinforce and restor the stand, a bunch of surface rust and I plan on placing a 90 on the botom rack, so it needs some reinforcement before I set it up.

after now puting foam under all of my tanks and actualy noticing a heating difference. i dont see why its not just normal practice to have foam under our tanks. its really like 3 dollars for a 2x4 sheet at any home improvement store. id love to see somebody do an actual write up and make it sticky! glass, acrylic, size, warranty, heating. vibration, imperfections, diy, i think it would be helpful to alot of people.

I have been searching further into the history and I have found a debate thread, alot of opinions I am seeing, 19 pages deep...

I will be using excersize mat if anything at this moment. Until I see a better alternative.

#1 reason Heat retension

Bonus-will help with imperfections in the stand, no worries for the to iron portion in my stand I received, but the lower unsupported shelf this my come into play, but most if any sag will be compensated with extra support to the floor.

bonus 2- helps avoid any external vibrations limits fish stress.
