^good question! Also, the water is very yellowed, do you have drift wood in there? What kind of substrate are you using? Was the tank new or used when you set it up?

What could I use to skim it off the top? I have a fish net but I don't think it's fine enough. Yes, I cleaned the. Gravel very thoroughly before I put in the tank, but I'm sure it wasn't perfect. You guys think it's just from the gravel? It wasn't like this at first. The tank has been up for a week and just lately it has started to get dirty at surface. Maybe it just takes that long for the stuff that I missed to float to the surface? And that picture looks yellow because of the lighting I think. The water is actually pretty clear. I do have 2 pieces of African driftwood in there which did turn my tank very cloudy at first (yes I soaked them before hand as well for a days) but then I put some Fluva carbon in my fx5 and within 2 days it became clear again. These 2 pics I took just now. Don't mind the annoying bubbling pealing background. It's been a headache for me and I'm working on fixing it. My main focus is getting cycled and cleaning this floating stuff on the surface first.
I ended up taking my fish stick net and putting a water polishing pad in it and skimming the top of the water over and over and now it looks much better.
