I am cycling a new 75 gallon tank and there is a thick foam at the top, I have done a couple of water changes but the foam just comes right back, any idea on how to get rid of it?

did you use soap to clean your tank?

tell us more about your setup and we can help.

help us help you lol

How are you cycling the tank (fish or fishless) ?

What's the pH, kH and gH of the tank and the tap water.

What are you using for a de-chlor?

Are you adding any other chemicals?

.

no soap or detergents were used to clean the tank
ph approx 8.0
i have 5 giant danios in the tank and they have been there for a week
ammonia 0.25ppm
8 gh
12 kh
I use API stresscoat for dechlor
i added stress zyme

I'm using a magnum 350 canister filter

the only thing i used to clean the tank was a little vinegar and lemon juice diluted in water

I'd bet it's from a combination of the stress coat and a low water line. Did you overdose with it? I've had it foam up on me when I used to use it a long time ago... though not to that extent.

Its the Stress Coat. We had to stop using it at work because our MaRS system would get low on water in the sump and on a busy day we don't get a chance to fill it until we are closed, the water would foam up from the pump taking in air. It would foam all over the floor. Interesting to see, but a pain to clean up. Now we use AquaSafe, which doesn't foam nearly as badly.
