Got to home depot....Get a roll of thick painters plastic and drape it over all of the tanks. bunch the bottom up and use tape to keep the plastic tight around the bottom of the stand. Leave the filters running, but no air pumps....Turn off all ceiling fans, air conditioners, heaters, and anything else that moves air. Fog, spray or whatever....When you come back, leave the tanks covered for at least the rest of the day so no residual particles can get in.

Remember to remove all of your fish stuff from the house... nets, buckets, hoses, pumps, extra decorations, ALL OF IT.

I've done this many times when I had the town house in Oklahomo.. You will need to wipe down any surfaces where fish food prep goes on, and anything that you might touch while messing with your tanks. Its a tedious process, but its worth it when you have such a ridiculous amount of money tied up in tanks as I do.......

Hope this helps....I've been through it a lot and know how much of a pita it is. I have never lost a fish with this method.

You can get a 3 pack of 12x25 plastics sheets for like 4 bux....

Yes Piscine, very helpful..!! I imagine drapping it with the painters plastic would be a little less frusterating that suran wrap.. Considering my height, (5'2") I would probably face plant into one of the tanks.. for sure!

I know you know, silly goose. I just posted that in case any other people came upon this thread with a similar question, they could get complete info. I'm not trying to be condescending. ;)

Your right, for those that aren't informed .. it's great info!!

Just like when you fog a kitchen in a restaurant turn off all air pumps. Cover eveything as tight as possible....move what you can....nets, equiptment to a safe place...outside maybe. what you cannot or do not move run thru your dishwasher before putting in your tank....better safe than sorry.....damage might not appear right away....and if your breeding it could definately impact future generations..

I did this like 5 times last summer. when i moved in were i live now it was infested with flee's. the previous person who lived here had like 5 dogs and were slooooooooobs. Went to home depot bought thick plastic and painters tape. But were my tanks were was a wood floor. So i put the plastic over the over the top over the tanks all the way to the floor. And taped the plastic all the way around to the wood floor. had no problems at all. great idea
