ok in all seriousness, to get an answer to a question previously left hanging.......

of the fish that we commonly keep in our aquariums, which ones are edible?

this is a serious question to which i would like a serious answer, so don't railroad me with insults, if you don't have an answer, don't post, go to another thread

bass, snakeheads, pacu, giant gouramis, eels, various catfish, carp... watch discovery channel, sometimes, you'll see some of our fish on there with the locals eating them.

ty for taking me seriously, we live on the discovery channel here, i'll have to watch a little more closely

I've had several people want to eat my albino channel cat :grinyes:

don't care much for catfish, because in the wild they will eat anything (usually from the bottom) however if you could control it's diet all it's life it would probably change the taste some

All of the above, most fish over 6" in length, some that are smaller, piranha, knifefish, It would be easier to list the ones that are not, there aren't many. Some however are not platable. Among fresh water fish there are a couple that are seasonably toxic due to diet and a couple that taste very rank. Others are not eaten because they don't carry enough flesh and thier structure precludes eating them whole, sticklebacks and twig cats are good examples.

thanks for the link very helpfull

There are people on my block that eat carp, bullheads, suckers, bowfin. I think they all taste terrible. Anyone that takes carp out of the lake and uses them is ok by me.

i agree carp do taste nasty, and thanx for chillin out and being serious dude
