Would it be good for a Fahaka puffer to eat frozen chunks of salmon once and awhile? Or would the salmon harm them in some way?

My fahakas never really liked fish filets, especially non-white fish. Plus I didn't want to deal with the oils of non-white fish messing up my water. I fed mine shrimp, mussels, clams, and earthworms for protein.

I give mine clams, mussels, crabs, crayfish, rams horn snails, mystery snails, and occasional live fish.

live fish i would highly recomend not to feed fahakas due to the fact that they are really sensitive and they can get ich very easy

does the oil contaminate the water? what if i fed it a small amount once a week ?

All the fish that my fahaka gets have been quaranteened.

Also, my puffer lives in a tank with 2 convicts, and an arulias barb. There use to be a Jack dempsey in the tank, but apparently he was not fast enough. The fish aren't meant for him to eat, as the JD was nearly the same size as the puffer. I wanted to try out the JD to see if he would be fast enough to avoid the puffer... apparently not.

It depends on your filtration but you know how fahakas eat. Half of it gets in, the other half gets scattered everywhere. I don't know how big your fahaka is now but when mine got to 14", he could pack away a couple filets if he wanted to. That's a lot of oily fish flying around. . .

My Fahaka is only about 5" so I'm only feeding market shrimp.

1. When feeding mussels or clams, do you throw it in whole? I think he might be too small to handle the shells...... or is he?

2. Also... the ram snails, where do you buy them and do you breed them yourselves?

Thanks.
