I got a small arrow yesterday and I was wondering how often do you feed them, I gave him one cricket this morning. What should I feed him besides crickets?

feed him daily. try blood worms, krill, cichlid pellets, beefheart, black worms, chopped shrimp, and earthworms:)
If he doesnt eat for a few days dont worry, they take some time to settle in. Also try to remove food that he doesnt eat, and keep up on water changes:D It might be a good idea to keep the light off for a day or two as well.

also, WELCOME TO MFK!

i just got a small one too.......mine was on guppies and i've weened him off ......he eats hikari cichlid gold , bloodworms, and sometimes cichlid sticks ..............listen to rallysman he knows what hes talkin about......delgado too, they both have amazing lookin aros......don't be afraid if he doesnt eat for a few days..............

ideally you should give your aro a mixed diet. Apart from the items mentioned mealworms/super worms are commonly fed to aro's. They are quite high in fat though but aro's love them :)

Yeah feed it evey day. Mine loves hikari chichlid gold, also helps them keep their red color. All small aros I have ever had will take it the first day I offer it to them.

I've fed small ones a base of freeze dried plankton, but supplement with other food including, small/pinhead crickets, flakes, pellets, krill, bw's, etc. I've found that the picky ones will readily take those freeze dried bloodworms that they market for bettas. He may take some time to settle in, but once he starts eating, he shouldn't be very picky.

My baby aro ate from day 1 he is on a diet of balck worms, cichlid pellets and sticks, food sticks, shrimp, smelt, squid, krill, blood worms, almost everything i put in the tank.

I used to have one alone in a 55 gallon and gave him away because he got to big. I fed him feeder guppies and frozen fish every week.
