Hello,

i‘m wondering what else i can feed my young dels.
At the moment im feeding them frozen mysis and Hikari pellets (cut in half) but it seems they dont really like the pellets.
But they love the mysis!
What else can i feed them to get good growth rate?
Is beef heart (for discus Fish) an alternative or is it unhealthy for the bichir?

And how much should i give them? After feeding they all have a small belly, is this ok or is it to much?

Thank you for answers!

Yes they eat some pellets but it seems they dont like it that much.
Is Mysis a good protein source or maybe there are better sources?

Chopped silversides, ghost shrimp, crickets (and other small feeder insects), f/t krill (given in moderation due to potential thiaminase complications), small livebearer feeders, and worms have all been readily eaten by most polys I've kept. I've also had no problems mainly feeding mysis and brine shrimp as a staple for very young/small bichirs.

A short update:
They love chopped squid and also chopped shrimp!
Both have very high protein which should be good for them?
Is this ok for daily food?

The shrimp contains thiaminase so I wouldn't feed it daily.
Have you tried Tilapia?
I didnt get Tilapia yet but i look out for it.
Is any other white fish ok?
What about the chopped squid? Does it also contain Thiaminase?

Ah Ok i just found a list of which fish/seafood contains Thiaminase.
But there are no Shrimps or squid on this list.
