I am wondering if there is anything else I can feed my fish that will contribute to their well being. I have 2 JD's, 2 FM's, and a clown knife to feed. all are under 4 inches. I feed them bloodworms, brineshrimp, beefheart, meal worms, earthworms, and cichlid gold pellets. is there anything else that I should be feeding them to make sure they get the right nutrition?

sounds like a pretty damn good diet to me.

Personally, if you have the money to blow, I'd also feed them lots of quality small live fish (NOT goldfish) and ghost shrimp, in the interest of stimulating their predatory instincts and giving them some 'fun' and exercise.

what small fish are their? and I have not seen ghost shrimp anywhere. I hear people talk about feeding live ghost shrimp but I have yet to see them.

all the petsmarts around here can and do order ghost shrimp, thy sell them for 30 cents each. I heard they will breed in a fishbowl. This is my next project by the way. Ever heard of livebearers, well healthy ones are allways having babies , allthough endlers livebearer is by far the best. Because they dont eat there fry as much so you get more feeders.. and because they are so small they can be gulped rather than shredded across the tank for you to pick up ;]
hey you asked

get your cichlids on shrimp and krill (as well as everything else) that will help their colors really pop

Oh I forgot about krill. I used to feed that to my oscars and they seemed to like it. it smelled really bad though. I will buy some next time I am out.

oh yeah petsmart also has brine shrimp eggs and brine shrimp hatcheries the whole thing wouldnt be more than 20 bucks. brine shrimp live in freshwater for days and your fish will love chasing around live brine shrimp or go to live brine shrimp .com, hikari micro algae wafers, and any spirulina based flake, wardleys shrimp pellets. I do not know if your fish will like these but you could try.

Use the cocktail shrimp that you get from the grocery store instead of krill. It is just as good for them, doesn't smell, and it is alot cheaper. It also brings out the red.

you serious? I might have some shrimp left over from super bowl snacks. they are pretty big though, I would have to chop them up. if this is true that would be cool.
