Oscars have dietary requirement of Vitamin C otherwise they get HITH... ensure yours get a good portion of fruits in her diet.. Try papaya, peas (boiled or frozen) etc.

I was under the impression that HITH was so random that they haven't linked it to any one thing. HITH in my honest opinion is a result of bad husbandry. IE: Dirty Water, Stray Voltage, Cramped Conditions, Bad Diet etc etc...

I personally would stick with the Hikari stuff. or NLS...

So u don't think I should get the worms just for treats? I use to feed mealworms to the Oscar when I first got him and he enjoyed it, but I didn't because it was like $5 for under 100 worms. This is $15 for who knows like? Over 1000.

If I was getting something for Treats. I would probably go with Krill, 514029.jpg Your Local pet store probably sells Live Super Worms, Crickets, etc if you want to do something like that. Dubia Roaches are a good treat. Mine also take bits of Ham, Oranges, Peaches, Hot Dogs, um.... What else... lol Bacon....

You get the idea. I use the Hikari as a staple. And drop them a little something here and their... I never really do the raw fish or shrimp unless I am cooking it for myself.. Which reminds me. They devour Salmon, Striper, and Catfish. I also keep Giant Danios and Convicts in the tank with my Os. Baby Cons and Danios make a great snack when they can catch them.... My two 10" Os can work their way through 20 Danios in about a month. But have trouble catching them once they have the school weeded down to 6 or less. I haven't had the funds to rebuild the Danio school and the 2 in the tank right now have been in their for over 2 months. Lastly I raise Marmokrebs for them as well.

Hmmmm might even get 2 convicts to breed for food. I use to have a crap load of cons but it got way out of hand.

anything that fits in thier mouth.....or they can tear apart lol. my oscars blew up 2 inches to 5 inches in 3-4 months. beef heart and pelets some blood worms for treats and weekly water changes and you should have no problem with growing oscars. also size of tank will influence this

Water changes every other day,65gallon all to himself well besides a clown loach but he's like 4inches so I think the O has enough room and gets enough wcs. Food wise he's become a real hard head and only eats shrimp at the moment but like some one in the earlier post stated......1 day of starving him is nothing.
So I think I'm gonna have to starve him for 3 days because he doesn't take pellets any more. My wife spoiled him.

You starve him till he takes the pellet. Then you feed him nothing but pellet for a while... Oscars are the puppies of the Aquarium World. Their stubborness can be corrected with food. Just do yourself a favor, once you have him on pellets don't teach him to jump for them. I've seen too many "OMG! I FOUND MY FISH ON THE FLOOR" Threads.
