Foods for Baby Giraffe Nosed Catfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have given him some small cuts of Prawns and Cichlid Excel pallets that has Contains pure-cultured Spirulina.

I'm going to guess that that fish is still significantly beneath typical growth rates. I understand you're going out of your way to feed it a premium diet but that's a premium diet for a different kind of fish. Your giraffe cat will be healthier if you feed it an appropriate diet and that does not normally include flesh, prawns, or cichlid pellets. Your cat is largely vegetarian.

I would recommend you take this gentleman's comment to heart:

Vegetarian fish , big cuts of flesh is not ideal at this infant stage , add Veggie material , broccoli florets simmered and green shtuff pellet wafers

Or maybe even listen a little bit to this guy:

Giraffe cats eat spirulina / algae pellets and plant matter. They don't eat massivore or sinking carnivore pellets. That's why your growth rate has been slow.

If you're interested in hearing what others of us feed what appears to be the identical fish I have 4 giraffes, each somewhere close to a couple feet long and they're quite healthy. I use feed I buy off of Amazon. It may not be everyone's idea of a nutritionally optimal feed but it works great.

I'll go snap a pic and be back in a couple minutes. Am in the middle of a wc.

Never mind. Somethings botched w/ the image uploader.

Here's an image of the product I use:

I never would have thought this fish would be vegetarian, honestly if I was in R ryanstef position I would have given it frozen bloodworms when I first got it.
Interesting to know, good to see MFK members coming to the rescue with their experience once again.

It's sad news. I lost him by my own mistake. for anyone who has Giraffe do not use seachem paraguard on them. they can't tolerate this med somehow.

he reached 8-9 inches and was very active.
