I did that at the store today. Fish swam into a hollow log, I just picked it up and dumped it into the bag.

Hope you like it, and hope it save you alot of hassle in the future.

I caught a Koi using a plastic bag yesterday. I just held the bag with one hand, and guided the fish into the bag with the other.

I've been told many times over the years that you simply just can not use a mesh net to capture a catfish and more specifically ones similar to Pictus with the barbs that catch on as it is potentially very damaging to them.

Is this information that is paranoid or justified? I don't ever plan on using my net to catch Ziggy my lil Pictus but I couldn't imagine catching him with a cup, he's tooooooooooo fast.

Don't use a net, use a big bag. Put the bag in the water, and guide it in there with your hand.

the spines could cut you if he gets freaked out tho, i would rather use a net to herd them in then my hand.

I have never had a problem with that. I got stuck trying to remove a fish from a net, but a catfish doesn't want anything to do with your hand, just move slowly. This is the way I bag the spiny ones at the store, and I always hand catch the plecos.
