Thats the thing dude, he died so suddenly, whithin an hour of tank cleaning.

I too had an azul, must have slammed the side of the tank pretty hard cuz her back was bent and she had a hard time swimming but she lived for a couple weeks. I know it was cruel to keep her alive but I was hoping she may heal and recover but she only got worse till i had to "put her down". But thats the thing....urs lived a couple days, mine lived a couple weeks but the pin lived less than an hour. Idk.

RIP to my pinima. I raised him since feb 2013 from 4" till his random early death at 18"

He was my FAVORITE cichla and the ONLY cichla i grew out.

Water params were completely fine. All other fish completely fine. Diet has not changed from massivore since he was 4"

The one thing i did was clean the glass....maybe stress?

What sucks the most is i watched him die rather than coming home and seeing him dead. As he was dying, he was swaying his head back and forth opening and closing his mouth stretching it out, darting around (upside down) any ideas?

Sorry about your Pin Sevank. That certainly was a beautiful specimen! I just lost a 7 inch Orino Rio Negros I recently scored and couldnt figure out why too. I was so broken up about it I was thinking of giving up all my fish! But I sat in front of my Kelberi tank and was somehow consoled by them. I guess no matter how much you care for them, there will always be things out of your control, that's nature.

Thanks.man, yes it sucks. Rio negro huh?
