heres how i sex them.

ok heres my though on the whole sexing for convicts:


males do have: pointed fin, stockier, bigger, deeper colored, hump on head later in age.
males dont have: orange, rounded fin, and eggs.


females do have: rounded fins, orange stumach, smaller but plumpier, lighter colored, eggs.
females dont have: pointed fins but sum may but rare tho, hump on head, sperm.


thats all i can think of.

oh what a meanie. im sure even their one of the easiest to sex, someone out there doesnt know. so this thread isnt "pointless" as u say it is.
however not everything u stated are enirely correct.. i have a female that is very dark and shes has a hump in the head too.

I must agree, it's really not that complex. When mature, females will always develop an orange/pink abdomen. Simple as that!
Convict breeder, females will have pointed anal and dorsal fins, some will even develop the extensions like that you see upon males.

if someone wants to know how to sex convicts, they can search "convict cichlid" on google. i'm getting sick of all of these threads about convicts polluting this forum.
 
hey guys, i asked about breeding cons in the breeding forum, only got one response confirming my thoughts? shouldnt sexing questions be addressed in breeding forum? just a thought?
