in a public forums ALOT of things gets repeated very often.
In the arowana section, debates on "drop eye" pops up alot! and i agree that it gets tiring... just learn to stay away from those things rather saying someones thread is "pointless" ur not helping both u and the thread starter.

What the hell is wrong with convicts? They are a central american cichlid are they not?

They belong on this forum just as much as any dovii or jag.
 
There are sexing threads for almost every fish out there - even for those fish that cannot be sexed visually. If a guy wants to ask "What sex is my convict" it is no different from all of you who asks "sex my FH" or "sex my jag"

Why do you think they ask? 'Cuz they don't know. Plain and simple. That's why we're here.

ok heres my though on the whole sexing for convicts:


males do have: pointed fin, stockier, bigger, deeper colored, hump on head later in age.
males dont have: orange, rounded fin, and eggs.


females do have: rounded fins, orange stumach, smaller but plumpier, lighter colored, eggs.
females dont have: pointed fins but sum may but rare tho, hump on head, sperm.

This is not entirely true. Males and females can have the same finnage and can be "plump". Mature females can at some points not have orange on their bellies. I have seen it done with a female con in with other cichlds in the tank.

i never said that there was anything wrong with convicts:irked: i actually like them. my beef is with the threads that convict_breeder starts. give me a break. like i said, if you want to know about a fish, use a search engine. IMO this forum should be used to share pictures of fish, get help for a sick fish, find out whats compatible with what, and things like that. i know that if i want to know how to sex or breed a fish, i use google and type in "------ breeding" or "care of ------".

ok ok...I get it I thought you had beef with convicts. I know a lot of people just view them as feeder fish, but they are much more of then that.

My bad. Sorry. :(
