For my 100th post... (SA Tank)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice tank! And congrats ;)

Have you thought about adding a background?

I have but the tank divides (kind of, comes over the bar top divider) the kitchen from the main hall that leads into the t.v. room. I really like being able to look through the tank into the kitchen. I have thought about adding a background just on the bottom 2/3 of the tank but I'm hoping to upgrade soon and don't really feel like it's necessary.

I feal ya' though, the pony wall and bar top are a bit ugly back there; it was even worse when it was a white wall, so I threw some blue on it. Looking back now, I wish I had used black.

Thanks for the idea though.

I love it, its very natural and what I find best is that the fish are all fairly common natural looking fish, but they work so well. I had a big breeding pair of almost flourescent orange oscars and I dont know why but I just think they look so much better with the black and white to compliment them.

Nice Thanks for sharing..... I have a Nikon 3000 ... just don't have the patients to take photo of fish...

Well, I've changed the tank up a bit and figured I'd do an update...

I added a Silver Arowana (about 8-9 inches) and since have had to switch up my tank stock a bit: My Albino O (Moby) had to be removed and temporarily be moved to a 56gallon because he decided to attack the Arow. Don't worry, he'll go back into the community once the Arow has reached about 16 inches and I move all of them into a 300. Durring the fish tank version of musical chairs, my Severum and Firemouth, as well as two Rosy Glass Barbs made it over to the 125. After bumping the filtration to an FX5 I went to Petco to grab some media, and came across and awesome Lutino Oscar and grabed him up for the tank as well. Sure it seems a little crowded now, but I can keep up with the parameters and they will only be in this 125 for a few more months.

Here are the shots of the current setup:

Burt Reynolds: (he's about 10 inches now and apparenlty camera shy)

Casanova Frankenstein: (about 4.5" now, not fully colored up)

Entire tank shot: (This is the only shot you can see the 2 Rosy Glass Barbs in, because they are impossible to photograph)

Thanks for looking :)

Beauty of a tank, can't wait to see them all in the 300 for sure! Nice balance of large, medium and smaller cichlids (and non cichlids - love those SDs). That arrow is going to be a beast

Beautiful tank wow!! :)
