Here's 2 more tips:
Don't feed, they'll live! Will help keep the waste down.
Get some stuff and make airpump powered sponge filters and hook them up asap. This way if the power does go out, you already have some bacteria seeded on them to help with bio filtration. At my LFS you can get them for like 2.99 a piece. Or you could just google DIY sponge filter.
