i like dobes! they always look elegant. how was it like when you had to introduce them, how did you do it? i need to think how im gonna introduce my new pup when he comes home in jan.

no, its exactly the same but without those little black things hanging off - what are they? but it basically tightens around her neck as soon as i pull it
yes you are using a regular choker.. what you need is a prong choker.. those little things are prongs.. when you jerk the collar the prongs are felt on the neck.. not a good feeling.. so they stop pulling.. some dogs have such tough muscular necks that you need to use the prong collar.. if you use it properly with just a jerk on the lead when you need to..you will only need the collar at most a couple of weeks.. and then just use as reinforcement ..because one thing you need to do is break this habit that is created.. not fair to him or to you.. when you walk it should be fun time..

i did not know how it would be when i introduced them since my dobie is 6 years old and somewhat alpha type.. but i took it slow.. i had him in the crate when she first saw him.. let her smell all over the crate and around him.. when she was outside i walked the pup around the house.. making his {scent}smell everywhere..so the dobes would know he belonged, and then when we first introduced them i walked one and hubby walked the other on the leash.. and then we brought out the ball.. let the dobes play while the pup stayed on the leash.. she got use to seeing him around.. it took a couple of weeks.. i made absolutely sure it was safe.. and they were great together.. dobie even brings the ball to collie as if to say ...okay kid lets play... but also i was advised to get opposite sex.. if u have male get a female etc .. or other way around..

yeah cos i already have a female, i'm getting a male but as the female tends to get very playful with other dogs then somehow it breaks out into a fight so i'm thinking about putting her on a muzzle first when they have to meet

one thing is try to get this girl squared away first while you have the time and before the new puppy.. get the training collar and have her start listening to you.. that will make it easier to start training the puppy.. and you do not want puppy picking up bad habits just the good ones..good luck.. :)

thanks :) will do! the thing i don't get is that she ALWAYS listens to peter, but never me! i'll say one thing and she'll completely ignores me. all he has to do is say one word and she'll do it. he says its because im too soft.

some dogs are one person dogs.. they will accept others but not take them seriously enough.. lol... and you probably are a softie.. but just work with her every day 10 or 15 min.. and then reward her.. just show her you mean business and you love her too... she is still young so this is still part of being somewhat puppy yet..
