? for Pluero owners

Hi,
i never saw any changes of the colour with and without tankmates. I own my 13 Pleuros since they are juvies and they stay till 6 cm without tankmates. after they reaches the 6cm they got feeders, so not really tankmades. Later they share the tank with an Aquarunichthys torosus which is a very good tankmate, because he stay all the time on the lowest water region and under his big root. I also noticed no changes in colour during the feeding, all given food (bloodworms, earthworms, sticks, feeders, frozen fish , shrimps, and so on.) didnt have an effect on the colour. Even the "pimped" froozen fish which i prepared with cyclopze eeyze didnt have an effect.
The most effect i recognize was as they reached the 20cm but also the smaller ones shows those colours think it conneceted with the age of my pleuros and the ammount of light which is reflected from them.
Ok after waterchange and cleaning the glas they looked a little bit stressed, but this is only a short time effect.

hi gr8 , food does not seam to have an effect at all , stress has a big effect , under stress and when angry they will look pale , when really angry they get a black nose , size is a big part as younger fish will never show the metalic bules you see , females also will never be as metalic as males but can still look impressive , light plays a massive part , with a standard tropical lamp seaming to wash the colour to slate blue where as something like a powerglo brings out the blue , background also makes a big diferance black backgroud they do not show as well as a blue backgroud . and ph certainly plays a part they do look more blue in below 7ph and again tend to head toward slate blue above this ( this may also be a form of stress) photos ive seen where they have been caught at 6ph have shown better colouration than ones fished from water at 7ph . tankmates play a part also as mine was looking pretty metalic and since adding the jelly cats who try and eat the pleuro now and then, she has gone slate blue again . again this could be said down to stress funny enough the orange always stays just as bright. i think they handle most tankmate well but if something is bullying them thats enough to stress them .

@tropheus do ya have more details about the waterparameter where the pleuros get fished? My internet research doesn´t give me any details, this is the first time that i heard about ph 6 to over ph 7. I am very interested in it, because i want to offer my Pleuros a water that is very close to the natural habitat. May be this will be later the clue to a hopefully breeding.
I am also very interested in nearly all details about the habitat. My search via google and wicky wasnt really sucessful at all, beacause all information a more about the ecconomy/inviorment but not really about the riversides of soutwestborneo (Kalimantan).
