they pop up in waves. One year you will see tons of atheris, and the next, none. They also come in all sorts of colors from red to blue to green. This particular species is usually green but I have seen blue and yellow phenotypes as well.

Blue and yellow too? Nice...all I could find was green. And...I kept getting pictures of another snake that looked very similar, but had a different scientific name. Escapes me at the moment

probably Atheris squamigeria. They are very variable too.
