when i lived in maryland(absolute worst place to live ever!) about a year ago i caught a few 4+ footer eels in a stream by a campground, water was pretty darn cold so id say tropical fish arnt the best tankmates.
eels can live in any water wich is not poisoned. any temp u provide at home is suitable. becarefull they are escape artists.
