For those of you that use aerators without a hood

You defs just need to get a glass top or something. It'll help with evaporation, noise, AND prevent most jumpers from committing fishicide.

Most pet stores sell clear plastic condensation lids I have 5 of them next to one and other and I never get any water loss from my two powerhead aerators or evaporation

i just deal with it and just fill it up when its time for water changes. I only loose like an inch a week but my heater blows so water isnt that warm only like 76 so don't really loose much.

I do the piece of glass thing that just fits over the splash area, making it a little wider than the tank so it sits on a slight diagonal. With the long end resting on the top of the rim and beyond a bit, and the other end inside the rim on the inside lip. Water wicks downward toward the inner lip and back into the tank that way, instead of wicking to the floor.
