for the guys/girls out there that have tanks 100g and up, and have larger sized fish in them.... what are you using to deal with algea ? i had a pleco and he made more of a mess then he cleaned in my tank green string poop everywere looks horrid on my white sand so moved him to my 75g....

what do you's on here use to get rid of algea growth ? just a scraper or magfloat for the glass and just clean the rocks once in awhile ? i have 130g tank, and a t5h0 dual bulb white/blue bulb in it on from 2pm-915pm everyday...

When algae overwhelms my plecos, I use mag float on the display panels. I don't do much for the rocks because I like algae incrusted holey rocks and the solid white ones.

My flagtail in my 220 takes care of everything with ease.

I use a magna-float for the glass. My lights are on a timer, no direct sunlight, and I do multiple small gravel vacs a week to cut down on things that feed the algae. I also have a 18W TurboTwist UV so it really cuts down on free floating algae. I got rid of plecos quite a while back they just dont eat enough algae to be worth it. I do have a flagtail in my mix but he eats pellets and flakes, there really is no algae for him to feed on.

Forgot to mention my tank is 210g with two 36" dual T5 fixtures.

Current stock is:
Tiger Oscar x2
Gold Severum x1
Hoplarchus psittacus x1
Crenicichla sveni x1
Silver Dollars x6 (3 Red Hook & 3 Spotted)
Redfin Prochilodus x1
Angelfish x1

LOL,I don't know about the Lysol but you could leave off the tank lights if there is enough light from other sources to view the fish in the tank.

well i also cant really have anything tiny in my tank i have 3 oscars in there lol .... my light is also ona timer 2pm-915pm like i mentioned above...i have also thought about a uv sterilizer but was told it wont cut or help algea from growing on the glass and rocks and plants (fake)....but yes i was thinking a mag float magnet for my glass, and the rocks i could always take out and scrub em with a old tooth brush if it starts to get crazy in there... so far all i have is brown algea starting on rocks and pipe i have in there and couple plants which i was told will turn into green eventually just takes time.... but yes i normally vaccum the sand once a week when i do my water change, last week now i been doing it twice a week adopted a oscar that has a slight touch of HITH due to feeder fish thats another story for another day lol...

I admit I overlooked the mention of a timer but I'm now wondering if you really need to have your lights on for that amount of time, are there no windows in the room that the tank is in?
