for those who dont like pitbulls !!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So then why am I in the wrong for not wanting to have anything to do with these animals? Or having anyone I care about in the presence of these animals? Why is it that owners of these dogs feel they need to defend the breed, denying that there is a definite problem with these animals in society as I highly doubt that the media has blown every case out of proportion.

Fully right there.

Falls in the category of bad ownership as i was saying.

It happens with all breeds that get trendy and status symbols, or masculinity extensions.

Most assured way of destroying a breed. So many were destroyed, many more will follow path...:(

So the answer to this would be restricting ownership of such animals.

Because the majority of pits are safe as a pussy cat.. gentle and loving as any other breed..... it is just in certain areas that news is spread of another incident involving pits.... there are numerous pits on MFK.. every other person seems to have one if they have a dog.... it is the media......... it is the fear factor at work. And it is the wrong people owning pits that makes the news.

Pit bulls are only as mean as the people that own them. Any dog will be aggressive if it is treated badly. My boss has 3 and not one of them would hurt a fly. My friend has one and my uncle breeds them and they are the best dogs ( other than my Siberian Husky ;) .) just my opinion though

And how am I to identify the "safe as a pussycat" dogs ? BTW my daughter has 3 scars on the back of here head, compliments of a "pussycat" so not sure if that would be a good example.

your fears are totally warranted Brian.. that is a very emotional scarring ordeal as a parent to go through.. but i hope that your fears do not escalate into your daughters fear.. yes we should always maintain caution with all dogs and children.... i do believe it is not safe to take for granted that a pet won't bite a small child.. things do happen.. and sometimes a bite is truly an accident.. as children can be rough playing so can a young dog...... it takes maturity to understand limits and limitations... my sister blew at a dogs face and the dog bit the air biting her skin on her face..pure accident in every sense.. i do not know the circumstances of your awful ordeal..but i hope your daughter loves a pet in her life..preferably a dog.. because it is truly a wonderful warm feeling to have a mans best friend as your friend.. of course not everyone feels this way.. i just think they don't know what their missing.

No not a dog, it was from a real pussy cat. She gave the cat a kiss, it grab her head with both arms and clawed the heck outta the back of her head. Just saying that the "safe as a pussycat analogy" is kinda off. Have always taken precations to keep my kids away from large dogs, not a newly developed opinion on this subject as they are both now young adults.

OMG, Brian! Not this debate again! It goes back to the irresponsible owners who do not do their research as to the breed they want! Do not blame the dogs for what they are.

Yes, this is the answer. Unfortunately, we have idiots around who think owning these breeds is simple and cool.

If its not the dogs that are to blame, then why are they put down and not the owners?
