Do they seem to 'hang out' together??

I've noticed a really interesting behavior since I added these 3 mantilla hybrids to my 375g..

All 5 retics go hang out in the corner with the faster current, where the sand substrate has been pushed back by their constant pacing the glass.. they basically pile on top of each other and 'ball' together..

The 3 mantilla hyrbids like to stay buried in the dark/shady area under the driftwood.. less current. they are always together.. maybe it's stress?

The retics never did 'hang out' like this before the hybrids were added.. they were usually randomly exploring the tank, now they seem to explore in a pack? (ie: if one goes over to the far side of the tank, eventually all 5 of them head over that way)

Anyone else notice this type of behavior?

How long have your had your new mantilla hybrids been in the tank?

Perhaps the introduction of the new group is causing some "stress" on both ends and they need time to get to know each other....

My leo pair hang out and my motoro pair hang out together... all in the same tank It seems to me they are prefering the same species granted they still will be close to each other every now and then but.... for the most part its leo and leo ..... motoro and motoro

I've noticed that my pair of marble's which are much smaller than the rest hang out together. But not so much with my Leo's and Motoro's.
When it comes to mating, they all choose their own kind which is good and prevents hybrids being born.

ALL my rays fear the Mantilla. Definite bully of the group. When she approaches they move.

Miles, I have 3 pearls, 2 leos, 1 p14 and a nazca ray in the same tank and they exhibit the exact same behaviour that u mentioned. They hangout at the far right corner a the back of the tank where the sand has been pushed back. i'm not sure if there is a whole lot of current though in that corner of my tank.

I have, in the same tank, a pair of Leos, a pair of Henlei, a pair of Scobina and 2 Pearl males.

It's very interesting because Leos are always together, Henleis also and Scobina also. The pearls, perhaps because they are 2 males, are always random.

Very interesting.

I forgot to mention that this only happens when lights are on.

With lights off the all group is much more active and it’s more difficult to understand it.
