Has anyone here had luck force-feeding a lionfish? I've tried twice this week, though the lion doesn't seem to appreciate it.

i thought those things were poisonus... and force feeding only stresses the fish out more.. id let it starve it out.. it will eat eventually;)... if you keep forcefeeding it will lead to death most likley

I don't hold the fish when I feed it. Rather, I've added a peice of air hose to a syringe, and squirt the food into his open mouth, and he (usually) swallows. I've waited for more than a month, and his health is fading, so I thought it best to take drastic measures.

i can't say i've ever tried force feeding fish. I've done it to reptiles before. and if fish stop eating, they definately don't always start again.

I've tried mollies and even a clown, and nothing has caught his attention yet, and the clown bordered on suicidal mind you.

No sarcasm implied, that's just how I type.

Though if you meant the heading, that was just me being cutely obnoxious.

At the moment, all parameters are looking good. For awhile the nitrates were running dangerously high, though I've had that under control for a few weeks now. Do you think the high nitrates may have made him irreversably ill?
