cant you call animal control to tell them they are going to adopt out an aggressive 170 lb dog to unknowing people?

maybe they can at least monitor the situation to see that any new owners dont get hurt?

it wouldnt hurt to consult an animal control officer or your county animal control to see...

I contacted Norco Animal Control before I ever took him back. They have everything in writing with the microchip number so that they can't just change his name and adopt him out the new name. Gentle Giants received a copy of the report and had to sign a contract that they understood the dog was having aggression problems and had tried to bite twice.

i dont understand how you could possibly get sued for being a responsible pet owner:confused: very confused.
and i agree with the other comments, surely there is a higher authority for you to turn to about them rehoming blatantly dangerous dogs to unsuspecting people, who could possibly have young children i might add.

at least you tried with everything you have. its a shame that someone at some time has made this dog so unbalanced that it goes into random bouts of hyper aggression, i bet he could have been a real star had he been giving the nurturing from the start. I hope you get this resolved and are able to get action taken again gentle giants.

While they may not have won, they would have filed a lawsuit. I had signed a contract saying that I would give him back if there was ANYTHING that was preventing me from keeping him. I had no idea it would be psychotic aggression. Norco Animal Control advised me to give him back per the contract and then file a complaint with them and the city of Norco.

NO WAY!! Thats messed up! Sorry to hear about this... I remember you and Eric seemed so happy with him.

this is one of the worst sad stories i have heard........ i cannot imagine the anquish and pain and money spent only to return him........... but thank goodness nothing happened to anyone... other then the emotional turmoil.

I am still having difficulties even talking about this two weeks later, but forcing myself to do it to get the word out.

This rescue has been doing this for YEARS...they need to be shut down, yesterday. So sorry you went through this.

As I have started digging, what you say has become very apparent. 6 years ago I got recommended to them by a couple vet techs and vets. Just about the same time, all this crap starting coming out, but it hadn't reached me yet.

It's nothing Cesar Millan couldn't fix! Send him an email :D

Truthfully, I'm not impressed by his handling of large dogs. Besides, I had a Behavioral Modification specialist (Ph.D. in animal behavior) who specialized in large, protection dogs with 30 years of experience tell me that he would never be reliable no matter what kind of training I did.

We were. When he was in his right mind, he was AMAZING. Something really was jacked up with him. The vet even wondered if he could have had a brain tumor.

what a shame... i hope they get shut down... sum people just dont care about animals !!!!

Here is the problem... They have convinced themselves that they are amazing. His round worms, diarrhea, ear infection, bloody leg sores, bloody urine (crystals formed from an untreated urinary tract infection), poor weigh, terrible muscle tone, dirty coat, and behavioral problems say otherwise. Disgusting messed up people. He was with him for 3 months like this.

What a crappy experience. I owned an English Mastiff for 10years. Fantastic dogs and I hope to get another one when my boxers are gone. Sorry things went so wrong.
