Forcing large cichlids to coexist with plants by using tubs?

I gave up on plants had hornwort in my 85 goldfish tank that they still ate up . It took them longer but they still tore it up. Now I got a 17 inch living world plastic Amazon sword that they ignore. LOL

Hornwart is almost indestructible and grows like madness! Though... their slender little leaves are so very messy at times...

hornwort is ridiculous! Fact that it can grow 3 inches a day, the little leaves get everywhere, then if you are not vigilant on cleaning up after them, then your ammonia levels can spike too crazy levels.

I removed mine, and went with ludwigia and pond penny and have had great luck. I have a mystery plant and watersprite.

I put a rocks around the base and none have been ripped up
